Venditti Takes 1st - 8 Dawgs Place
Posted December 10, 2006

The Dawgs broke open the door to the 2006-2007 wrestling season with an excellent performance at the 19th Annual Penn Manor Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Penn Manor High School located in Millersville, PA, on December 8 & 9.

The Dawgs finished 3rd out of a total of 25 teams which included:  Berwick, Brookville, Cape Henlopen (DE), Central York, Crestwood, Curwinsville, East Pennsboro, ELCO, Garden Spot, Garnet Valley, John Dickerson, Lampeter Strasburg, Lancaster Catholic, Lasalle, Lebanon, Mechanicsburg, Montoursville, Northern, Penn Manor, Perkiomen Valley, Reading Central Catholic, Spring Grove, Sussex Tech (DE), Twin Valley, and West Chester Rustin.

The Dawgs placed an impressive 8 wrestlers and included the following:  Nick Venditti (Jr) 1st;  Chris Bujno (Fr) 2nd; Dom Yantorn (So) 2nd; Tyler Perry (Sr) 2nd; Aaron Karns (Jr) 2nd, Lou Ney (Jr) 4th; Ryan Sitler (So) 5th; and Steve Prebola (So) 8th.  Penn Manor also conducted a junior varsity tournament and the following Dawgs placed in this well-run tourney:  Matt Saxton (So): 4th and Cody Spaide (Jr) 4th.

Nick Venditti, Junior, Champion, 160lbs
Venditti kick-started his junior season in superb fashion by tearing through the competition with 4 consecutive convincing victories to snatch gold and the championship title in the 160lb bracket.  Competition throughout the state is now on full alert.
Congratulations Nick!!

Tyler Perry, Senior, 2nd Place, 140lbs
Perry continued his stellar career and senior year quest for states by pocketing 3 commanding victories before dropping a narrow decision in the finals.
Congratulations Tyler!!

Aaron Karns, Junior, 2nd Place, 189lbs
Karns ripped through his first 3 opponents before putting the crowd and state on notice by taking runner-up honors in which he took the 2006 PIAA AA state championship 4th place finisher at 189lbs to overtime.
Congratulations Aaron!!

Dom Yantorn, Sophomore, 2nd Place, 112lbs
Yantorn, the Dawgs sole returning District Champion, began this season in the same impressive fashion by powering through his first 3 opponents before dropping a razor-thin decision in the finals.
Congratulations Dom!!

Chris Bujno, Freshman, 2nd Place, 103lbs
Bujno made his varsity debut a memorable one and started the season on fire by grabbing 3 excellent victories with relentless 6-minute wrestling before dropping a nail-biter in the finals.
Congratulations Chris!!

Lou Ney, Junior, 4th Place, 135lbs
Ney may have had the most impressive and beneficial experience of all place finishers.  Lou wrestled great and lost twice, to the same opponent, the 6th place finisher at the 2006 PIAA AAA state championship tournament.  Those are 2 bouts most would pay to get.
Congratulations Lou!!

Ryan Sitler, Sophomore, 5th Place, 215lbs
Sitler also made his varsity debut one to remember.  Giving up significant weight at 215lbs, Ryan used his sheer strength and athletic abilities to make up the pounds in an impressive 5th place showing.
Congratulations Ryan!!

Steve Prebola, Sophomore, 8th Place, 119lbs
Prebola notched another place winning tournament finish to his resume in a loaded 119 pound bracket at Penn Manor.  Prebola, bulked up in mass and strength this year, is looking to continue his on-fire ways with big accomplishments this season.
Congratulations Steve!!

Penn Manor JV Tourney Placers:
4th Place:  Matt Saxton, Sophomore, 130lbs
4th Place:  Cody Spaide, Junior, 152lbs

Congratulations Dawgs!!
