It takes a great deal for an athlete to achieve success in the sport of wrestling.  It takes an enormous commitment for a student to achieve success in academics.  It takes a special breed of student-athlete to be able to excel in both.

There are many students that are able to rise toward the top of their class.  Their are many athletes that are able to rise to the top in wrestling.  What makes one truly stand-out, something that separates them from the crowd, is the ability to excel both academically and in the sport of wrestling.

Each year, the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association, PWCA, recognizes high academic achieving wrestlers for their excellence both on the mat and in the classroom.

The PWCA selects a senior class, junior class, and sophomore class.  Freshmen are not eligible for all-academic selection.

The Berwick Wrestling Program is proud to announce that the following Dawgs have been selected as PWCA All-Academic Honorees:

Tyler Perry, PWCA All-Academic
The Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association selected senior Tyler Perry to it's 2006-2007 honorable mention all-academic team.  Tyler was also a past PWCA all-academic honoree.  This past season, Tyler was a state medalist taking 4th Place at the PIAA AA State Championship Tournament, was a regional champion at the PIAA AA NE Regional Championship Tournament, was the district champion at the PIAA District 2 AA Championship Tournament, is a 4-time district medalist, and also broke the all-time career win record in the history of Berwick Wrestling with 127 career wins.

Nick Venditti, PWCA All-Academic
The Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association selected junior Nick Venditti to it's 2006-2007 honorable mention all-academic team.  Nick was also a post PWCA all-academic honoree last year.  This past season, Nick was a state medalist taking 8th Place at the PIAA AA State Championship Tournament, was a regional champion at the PIAA AA NE Regional Championship Tournament, was the district champion at the PIAA District 2 AA Championship Tournament, was named the District 2 AA Championship Tournament outstanding wrestler, and is a 3-time district medalist.

Ryan Sitler, PWCA All-Academic
The Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association selected sophomore Ryan Sitler, the Dawg Pin-Meister, to it's 2006-2007 honorable mention all-academic team in only his first year of eligibility.  Ryan, who completed his first varsity season, had an immediate impact for the Dawgs and played a key role in the success of the Berwick Wrestling Program last season.  Ryan was a district runner-up at the PIAA District 2 AA Championship Tournament and recorded over 20 falls for Berwick on the season.
