In an historic re-classification, falling enrollment will move the Dawgs from it's long-reigning Class AAA status to Class AA designation for at least the following 2 seasons.  The PIAA reclassification starts next year with the 2006-2007 season and continues for the following 2007-2008 season.  Berwick has been close to the PIAA cut-off for the past several years.

Here's how it shakes out.  The number of enrolled males for Class AA is 1-381.  The number of enrolled males for Class AAA is 382-2000.  Berwick's enrollment is 354 which puts it 18 below the Class AAA cut-off.

Other District 2 moves include Wyoming Area dropping to Class AA and Dallas will stay put at Class AA for another two years.  West Scranton, after 2 years in Class AA, will be moving back up to Class AAA.  District 2 Class AAA will drop to 12 teams while Class AA will bump to 18 teams.
