Bujno & Karns Go Undefeated At 2007 - 2008 BERWICK WRESTLING Senior Aaron Karns and sophomore Chris Bujno
traveled to Oxford, PA, to compete in the 27-team 705 Waterway Duals
held at Oxford High School on September 15, 2007. Bujno
competed at 106lbs and Karns competed at 192lbs. Both Dawgs went an impressive 5-0 on the day while
competing for the Matroom Red Team which finished 5th in team
standings and was just barely defeated by Easton in inter-pool
competition. Results from the finals were unknown at time of
publishing. The 705 Waterway Duals hosted 27 top teams from
Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware,
and Massachusetts. Teams included: Bad Karma (PA), Bison
(PA ), CJA (NJ), Club 705 (PA), Delaware Intensity (DE), Downingtown
East, Downingtown West (Team Thunder), Easton, Garnet Valley,
Gunstan (VA), ISW (NY), Jersey Boys (NJ), Matroom Blue (PA), Matroom
Red (PA), O’Hara (PA), Owen J. Roberts (PA), Orchard WC (NJ),
Puternic (PA), Shore Thing (NJ), SIR (NJ), Springfield (PA), Steel
(PA), Steeplechase (NY), Thornbury (PA), Turk WC (PA), Wadsworth WC
(MA), and Wayne Danger (PA). In the first round against Owen J. Roberts, Bujno,
who had the first bout in every dual, got things started off soundly
by recording a dominating 15-0 second period technical fall against
John Dempsey. Karns opened up his weekend action by notching a
physically commanding 8-0 major decision over a tough Scott Syrek.
In the second round versus Steeple Chase New York City, Bujno
upended Brian Traub (2007 NY State Qualifier/Regional Runner-Up) by
an excellent 5-2 decision. Karns triumphed in his match-up
with John Newman (2007 Regional 3rd Placer) with a simply
over-powering 9-0 major decision. In the third round versus Orchard Wrestling Club,
Bujno secured a superb victory with a 4-0 decision over Nick
Flannery (2007 MA State Medalist, 4th Placer). Karns went on
to nail an outstanding and crushing first period fall against Leone
White (2007 NHSCA All-American). During the fourth round
versus Oxford 705, Bujno ran up the score to 13-0 before stapling a
second period pin against Brett Harner. Karns then secured a
huge win and kept his pinning ways going by slamming an exciting
first period fall against Nick Ruggear (2007 National Cadet FS
All-American, 8th). With the dual victory, Matroom Red
captured the pool championship. Facing Easton in the first round of crossover pool
champion competition, Bujno pocketed a key victory in the opening
bout with a precision 4-0 decision over Mike Fleck. Easton
later tipped their hat and conceded a forfeit to Karns (the only
forfeit of the match). This was a very close and hotly
contested dual that came down to the final two bouts for the win by
Easton over Matroom Red. Congratulations Chris & Aaron!! THE
